Shimano Releases their new Status “Bent Butt” Rods

STATUS-BENT-BUTT1Shimano New Zealand are currently releasing a new range of rods called the “Status Bent Butt”.  These are purpose designed for deep sea bottom fishing and in particular with Dendou Maru Power Assisted reels.
The bent bunt design of the rods make them perfect for leaving in rod holders while fishing so when hooked up the reel can be simply set to retrieve mode and the fish winched to the surface making things a whole lot easier than in the past – if you have ever winched in a big Hapuka from 300 metres deep by hand – you will understand!

The bent butt designs come in two options: a PE 3-5, and PE 5-8 line weight option and either 5’2″ or 5’6″ lengths, and were built to fish for popular local species such as Hapuka, Bass, and Bluenose.

The rods are built with both Carbon & E-Glass making them extremely strong.  Components include a Fuji Reel Seat & Pac Bay Zeronium guides & they have aluminium reel seats.

These rods were specifically designed for the New Zealand market, and the Aluminium Bent Butt design can be removed.  They were also manufactured using processes and technology normally only reserved for higher priced rods.  These will be available from your local tackle shop very soon!

Take a look at this Video, taken in the Outer Hauraki Gulf of these new rods in action:
